Crystal asked for help coming up with Christmas gifts for her 25-year-old son. Her son is spending the year with a traveling theatre group, so he has limited access to things like electronics (or outlets or wi-fi). He spends most of his nights in hotels and his days on the tour bus. Crystal listed his main interest as musicals. I put together these gift suggestions with the theme os portable entertainment and lack of privacy. Most are practical items, but hey, that was young adults on the road are looking for, right?

Chelsea asked for help finding a $25ish dollar gift for her cousin. She drew this cousin in a family Secret Santa, so it's not a cousin she buys for regularly. The information Chelsea passed on was that her cousin lives in a big new house, is married, has cats, loves wine, and is a headhunter for a law firm. Some of the items I included here are a little over the $25 mark, but I encourage you to use these as ideas and inspiration. You know the recipient better than I do! Franky asked for help finding a Christmas gift for her mom. She can't do anything scented, like lotion or candles or bath items, so that takes out a lot of "grandmothery" items. Franky listed her mom's hobbies as home improvement, cross stitching, Bible study, and visiting her kids and grandkids. It's just her and her dog at home in Colorado, so I tried to include things she could enjoy solo as well as sharing with the far-away kids and grandkids. #mother #grandmother #emptynester #crafts #petowner #forher
TWIST! I got three requests from two friends asking for gift help for one person for two holidays. Got that? These friends were looking for ideas for their 20-something year old husband/brother-in-law. Since his birthday is on Christmas Eve, there's a little extra pressure to get him something nice, memorable, and personal so his birthday doesn't get lost in the holiday shuffle. I've included a huge variety in price ranges since his wife has a different gift budget than his sister-in-law. This slideshow includes idea for another sports loving guy, so some suggestions may be familiar. Chelsey and Reagan told me that this guy is a baseball lover and coach of a small college team in Ohio, he's a lover of politics, social-justice and technology, enjoys The Wizard of Oz, Hamilton, and The Walking Dead, and is a newlywed living in an apartment. #millenial #sports #forhim #experience #giveback
This is another gift guide by request, this one from Kaitlyn. She needs a Christmas gift for her husband between $25-$100. She listed his interests as golf, Red Sox, hunting and whisky. He's 25 with a small child at home, house under construction, and a long commute every day... so very little free time. I focused on gifts that could fit into his normal life. #millenial #forhim #sports #alcohol #parent Our first request! This was for a Christmas gift for reader Ashley's boyfriend. He's in his mid-20s and is a huge University of Florida and Orlando City SC fan. They've been together a few years now and Ashley says she usually falls back on fan gear and watches, so she wants to get him something a little more "grown-up" this year. She mentioned that he's not a hang-out-in-the-great-outdoors kinda guy, and they live in an apartment, so that eliminated a few things I might have suggested. She gave me a $150 budget, but I included ideas in a variety of price points so she can mix-and-match ideas. For more gift ideas like this, find me on www.pinterest.com/withabowblog/Pinterest.
#boyfriend #sportsfan #grownup #millenial I love gift giving. Love it. Every Christmas, birthday and anniversary I get unreasonably excited about unwrapping time. I love it. Getting gifts is fun. But I like the giving more. Yes, some of it is self-centered (appreciate and acknowledge my sweet sweet gift choosing skills, dammit!). But a thoughtfully selected gift can really brighten someone's day, and I love being a part of that.
For years I've been saying that there just isn't a place on the internet where you can find a diverse array of gift ideas. Something for people with a variety of aesthetics, something in a variety of prices. I want to fill that void. Who knows where I'll end up, but my plan is for each post to be a round up of gift ideas for a specific person or a specific occasion. I'm happy to take requests, but for now I'll start out with people and events that are familiar to me. Let's go! |
